PPE

Choosing PPE (or Personal Protective Equipment) can be a difficult job as it is a lot of responsibility and a technical task. This is why Lyreco places effort in producing a short guide on how to select the exact PPE that your company needs.

Understand your environment to choose the correct PPE

This first step is the most important in PPE compliance, as you need to understand each hazard that the employees might face. Collaboration is key for a successful assessment of all those risks. A detached contributor for example helps to avoid conflicts between best practices, current practices, risks and daily operations.

Select the PPE that match your environment

You can find on our website clear guidance for safety googles, gloves and safety shoes. The main questions are is it a flammable or explosive atmosphere, is the employee working by hot or cold temperatures, what are the physical hazards, can the employee slip or fall?

Poper wear and care of PPE?

Once the PPE are selected, you still need to make sure that your employees wear the ones that fit them and that they maintain them in good condition. Make sure that the employees know which PPE they should use in which situation and confirm the size with them. Simulate a work activity to verify the fit. The training needs to cover PPE limitations and maintenance guidelines.
