Question: When is ear muff protection advisable, and what level of noise reduction should it provide on a construction site?
Answer: Earmuffs are ideal for irregular noise, frequent putting on and taking off, and when working with dirty hands, as they enclose the ears without direct skin contact. On construction sites, models with an SNR (Single Number Rating) between 28 dB and 35 dB are usually the best choice. Compared to earplugs, ear muffs offer the advantage of being easy to use and very comfortable to wear during short, intense periods of noise.
