Clairalfa paper can look back on a long and successful tradition. It has relied on consistent quality for over 150 years. Clairefontaine paper production, which has existed since 1858 and has French roots, does not produce the paper fibres itself, but obtains them from the global market. This allows them to choose different countries of origin in order to achieve an optimal paper composition: for example, long fibres from conifers from Scandinavia for high durability sheets or short fibres from eucalyptus forests in Brazil for paper with opacity and printing properties. Clairefontaine uses only paper fibres from forests that are 100% certified for their ecological management. In addition, its Etival branch produces only recycled paper, without de-inking or bleaching, with the exceptional capacity to produce 100 kg of new paper from 106 kg of old paper.
