Lyreco 100th-anniversary celebrations in Pezinok: Fireworks, a living hundred, and messages for future generations

May 26, 2026 – one hundred years since Georges-Gaston Gaspard opened a small bookstore in Valenciennes, France. One hundred years of a story that today continues in 25 countries worldwide. And at the same time, twenty years of Lyreco Central Europe. However, during the celebrations in Pezinok, neither history nor numbers were the main theme. It was the people who write this story every day.

Lyreco world on one screen

We did not only celebrate the centenary in Pezinok. During the global online connection, colleagues from more than twenty countries worldwide met on one screen. A short speech by Lyreco Group management emphasized the role of the people who participated in building the company over the past hundred years.

Confetti, birthday songs or dances - however, each team across continents experienced this day in its own way, everyone was united by the same reason to celebrate. For a few minutes, employees from Marly, Tokyo or Pezinok found themselves in one shared space.

Managing Director giving a speech

The vision is clear - connecting experiences

The official part of the celebrations was opened by the new Managing Director of Lyreco Central Europe, David Harman, who took the opportunity to introduce himself to employees and outline the direction of our branch in the upcoming period.

From his speech, a message resounded: "Our superpower? Team. It's you." David reminded that the company's success is not only due to products, services or business results, but primarily the teams that collaborate across countries and drive it forward every day. According to him, the true strength of Lyreco Central Europe lies precisely in the ability to connect people, experiences, and diverse perspectives: "When we think about what we can achieve together, and not just our own goals, there's nothing we cannot accomplish as a team."

Employee writing message into the family album

A bridge connecting generations

The celebration also created space for moments that usually don't fit into a regular work schedule. The time capsule was gradually filled with messages for future generations and the family album with team photographs. Dream Team Telesales wrote in the photo book: "Thank you for this amazing place full of great people." One message will remain hidden underground, others in the family album. Both are a small testimony to what Lyreco is today.

Social games, creative workshops and a photo booth

The day brought opportunities for meetings outside the usual work agenda. Honestly? It was nice to temporarily exchange the keyboard and mouse for a brush, markers or a Rubik's Cube. Photos with ice cream glasses, a pirate hook, and a sailor's hat are proof that our teams can truly quickly seize every opportunity – not just in the world of work solutions.

Behind every hundred are people

Shortly after cutting the birthday cake, hundreds of colleagues in blue t-shirts formed the number 100 in front of the building. Fireworks in corporate blue and green were the icing on the cake of an exceptional day and a symbolic opening of a new chapter. The centenary celebration was not just a look back. It was a reminder that behind every milestone Lyreco achieved in a hundred years, were people willing to collaborate, share experiences, and create something bigger together.
