The PPE market is in a high state of flux right now. Customer preferences are being swayed considerably not only by inflation and supply chain concerns, but also by geopolitical tensions and economic turbulence.

4 questions for our PPE product manager
Ingrida Burkovská graduated in Security Management from the University of Security Management in Košice, Slovakia. Since 2018, she has been a vital member of the PPE team at Lyreco.
What’s new for our customers in 2023?
Customer demands and preferences are keeping pace with events across the globe. Apart from the obvious influences such as inflation, the economic downturn and spiralling environmental concerns, we are also experiencing production cost fluctuations and raw material shortages.
We have added more than 2,000 new products to our portfolio. We have worked with our PPE specialists – who are in very close contact with our customers and actually use the products we offer – to pick out products for every type of user. In particular, we have considered the various sectors and professions.
Our portfolio features products for welders, electricians, workers in the automotive and engineering industries, chefs, and professions that require white clothing, such as the food and beverage industry, hospitality, and pharmaceuticals.
We want to supply our customers with products protecting their employees from head to toe.
Can we offer our customers an economic solution that doesn’t compromise on quality?
We have a good grasp of market demand and we know it is only natural for companies to look for ways to save as much as possible now times are tough.
All PPE products in the Lyreco range must meet strict quality requirements and be certified.
Customers browsing our portfolio will find premium products of the finest quality that are made from innovative materials and use the latest technology in their manufacture. They will also find plenty of reasonably priced quality products.
With PPE, it’s all about safety first. The priority is to ensure that products comply with requirements based on the risk categorisation of different work activities.

Have we introduced any new brands to our product range?
We’ve lined up several new suppliers this year. Following on from our very good experience of Base Protection work boots, we have added this brand to our portfolio. Base Protection has recently been bought out by Portwest, our supplier and long-standing partner.
Base Protection is an Italian manufacturer of work boots combining top quality with maximum comfort. Several of our customers have put these boots to the test and have been very pleased with them.
All Base Protection’s work boots provide workers with the utmost protection, combining the latest technology, innovation and materials. What's more, they are fully certified according to EU standards. The footwear is breathable, lightweight and comfortable. Knowing that workers spend most of the day in their footwear, Base Protection places a very high requirement on comfort.
The boys at the tyre shops were thrilled to see how nice the Lyreco boots are. They don't look like the old boots at all.
How do customers go about finding specialised products for specific industries?
Besides expanding our product portfolio, we are also working on PPE searches and filtering. In 2022, we started to unify the terminology used in this category so that customers would be able to navigate their way around the many products we have very quickly. We have assigned relevant keywords to each product in our portfolio. These can then be used to look up products using the search box.
We are now working on optimising the filters. Our target is to deliver intuitive browsing and make the search as simple as can be so that the customer experience is as seamless as possible.
