About Hotel D1
Hotel D1 is a modern four-star hotel situated in Ostrovačice near Brno, directly at exit 178 off the D1 highway. Guests will find accommodation here in 41 stylish rooms, 2 restaurants, and 3 fully equipped conference rooms suitable for training, corporate meetings, or events.
The complex also includes a petrol station and facilities for truck transport with parking and services for drivers, where approximately 400 to 500 trucks rotate each night. Thanks to its strategic location and wide range of services, the hotel is a popular choice for business clientele and visitors to the region.
From office supplies to a comprehensive hygiene solution
Collaboration between Lyreco and Hotel D1 began in spring 2024. Initially, the hotel primarily sourced office supplies for administration and conference areas. Gradually, the partnership expanded into the area of professional hygiene and cleaning, where the hotel needed a more systematic solution for daily operations.
After implementing the new cleaning system, the hotel gradually gained better oversight of cleaning product consumption and a more systematic approach to premises hygiene.
Challenges of a high-traffic operation
A hotel with a high frequency of visitors – including hundreds of truck drivers daily – faced several operational challenges.
Key challenges included:
- inconsistent cleaning system for hotel premises and toilets
- high consumption of hygiene products
- challenging maintenance of truck driver toilets
- hard water
- staff turnover and the need to simplify cleaning processes
The hotel's priority was to ensure a clean and hygienic environment, a simpler cleaning system, and better control over consumption and costs.
A solution tailored to the hotel's operation
Lyreco, in collaboration with a Procter & Gamble specialist, proposed a comprehensive professional cleaning solution tailored to the hotel's operations.
Implementation included:
- introduction of professional cleaning systems
- installation of equipment for efficient cleaning of premises
- professional pressure washer for maintaining truck driver toilets
- manuals and staff training for proper product usage
- optimization of cleaning procedures
“This project demonstrated how important it is to understand the real needs of the customer and adapt the solution to their operation. In collaboration with a specialist, we were able to set up a system that could be effectively integrated into the hotel's daily operations.”
The solution included a three-step cleaning process:
- application of cleaning agent
- rinse with water
- disinfection
Some elements needed to be adapted to the specific conditions of the hotel. For example, the water supply in the cleaning room needed to be adjusted so that both the cleaning system and traditional plumbing could be used.
The results: Better control, higher standards
